New ANZCOR Diabetes Guideline

The Australian and New Zealand Resuscitation Council has recently released a new guideline to support the management of diabetes in a First Aid setting. 

The Guideline has has consolidated a lot of existing practices as well as provided greater guidance on the amount of sugar to administer in a low blood sugar emergency, how to deal with an insulin pump and when to use a blood glucose meter. 

It has also clarified the use of a hypo kit for parents and carers.

It is highly recommended that all First Aiders make themselves familiar with these guidelines. Below we have highlighted some key sections:
